Earthquake Safety Tips.
Earthquakes
happen more frequently in fault line areas, but they can happen
anywhere. Before coming to Japan, I knew nothing about them. I would
like to pass this information on to all, so that you have a better
chance of survival in the event of an earthquake.
Please read this and pass the info along to your family members; it could save their lives someday!
EXTRACT FROM DOUG COPP'S ARTICLE ON THE: "TRIANGLE OF LIFE"
My
name is Doug Copp. I am the Rescue Chief and Disaster Manager of the
American Rescue Team International (ARTI), the world's most experienced
rescue team. The information in this article will save lives in an
earthquake.
I
have crawled inside 875 collapsed buildings, worked with rescue teams
from 60 countries, founded rescue teams in several countries, and I am
a member of many rescue teams from many countries.
I
was the United Nations expert in Disaster Mitigation for two years. I
have worked at every major disaster in the world since 1985, except for
simultaneous disasters.
The
first building I ever crawled inside of was a school in Mexico
Cityduring the 1985 earthquake.. Every child was under its desk. Every
child was crushed to the thickness of their bones. They could have
survived by lying down next to their desks in the aisles. It was
obscene, unnecessary and I wondered why the children were not in the
aisles. I didn't at the time know that the children were told to hide
under something.
Simply
stated, when buildings collapse, the weight of the ceilings falling
upon the objects or furniture inside crushes these objects, leaving a
space or void next to them. This space is what I call the "triangle of
life". The larger the object, the stronger, the less it will compact.
The less the object compacts, the larger the void, the greater the
probability that the person who is using this void for safety will not
be injured. The next time you watch collapsed buildings, on television,
count the "triangles" you see formed. They are everywhere. It is the
most common shape, you will see, in a collapsed building.
TIPS FOR EARTHQUAKE SAFETY
1)
Most everyone who simply "ducks and covers" WHEN BUILDINGS COLLAPSE are
crushed to death. People who get under objects, like desks or cars, are
crushed.
2)
Cats, dogs and babies often naturally curl up in the fetal position.
You should too in an earthquake. It is a natural safety/survival
instinct. You can survive in a smaller void. Get next to an object,
next to a sofa, next to a large bulky object that will compress
slightly but leave a void next to it.
3)
Wooden buildings are the safest type of construction to be in during an
earthquake. Wood is flexible and moves with the force of the
earthquake. If the wooden building does collapse, large survival voids
are created. Also, the wooden building has less concentrated, crushing
weight. Brick buildings will break into individual bricks. Bricks will
cause many injuries but less squashed bodies than concrete slabs.
4)
If you are in bed during the night and an earthquake occurs, simply
roll off the bed. A safe void will exist around the bed. Hotels can
achieve a much greater survival rate in earthquakes, simply by posting
a sign on The back of the door of every room telling occupants to lie
down on the floor, next to the bottom of the bed during an earthquake.
5)
If an earthquake happens and you cannot easily escape by getting out
the door or window, then lie down and curl up in the fetal position
next to a sofa, or large chair.
6)
Most everyone who gets under a doorway when buildings collapse is
killed. How? If you stand under a doorway and the doorjamb falls
forward or backward you will be crushed by the ceiling above. If the
door jam falls sideways you will be cut in half by the doorway. In
either case, you will be killed!
7)
Never go to the stairs. The stairs have a different "moment of
frequency" (they swing separately from the main part of the building).
The stairs and remainder of the building continuously bump into each
other until structural failure of the stairs takes place. The people
who get on stairs before they fail are chopped up by the stair treads -
horribly mutilated. Even if the building doesn't collapse, stay away
from the stairs. The stairs are a likely part of the building to be
damaged. Even if the stairs are not collapsed by the earthquake, they
may collapse later when overloaded by fleeing people. They should
always be checked for safety, even when the rest of the building is not
damaged.
8)
Get Near the Outer Walls Of Buildings Or Outside Of Them If Possible -
It is much better to be near the outside of the building rather than
the interior. The farther inside you are from the outside perimeter of
the building the greater the probability that your escape route will be
blocked.
9)
People inside of their vehicles are crushed when the road above falls
in an earthquake and crushes their vehicles; which is exactly what
happened with the slabs between the decks of the Nimitz Freeway. The
victims of the San Franciscoearthquake all stayed inside of their
vehicles. They were all killed. They could have easily survived by
getting out and sitting or lying next to their vehicles. Everyone
killed would have survived if they had been able to get out of their
cars and sit or lie next to them. All the crushed cars had voids 3 feet
high next to them, except for the cars that had columns fall directly
across them.
10)
I discovered, while crawling inside of collapsed newspaper offices and
other offices with a lot of paper, that paper does not compact. Large
voids are found surrounding stacks of paper.
Spread the word and save someone's life... The Entire world is experiencing natural calamities so be prepared!
"We are but angels with one wing, it takes two to fly"
In
1996 we made a film, which proved my survival methodology to be
correct. The Turkish Federal Government, City of Istanbul,University of
Istanbul Case Productions and ARTI co-operated to film this practical,
scientific test. We collapsed a school and a home with 20 mannequins
inside. Ten mannequins did "duck and cover," and ten mannequins I used
in my "triangle of life" survival method. After the simulated
earthquake collapse we crawled through the rubble and entered the
building to film and document the results. The film, in which I
practiced my survival techniques under directly observable, scientific
conditions, relevant to building collapse, showed there would have been
zero percent survival for those doing duck and cover.
There
would likely have been 100 percent survivability for people using my
method of the "triangle of life." This film has been seen by millions
of viewers on television inTurkey and the rest of Europe, and it was
seen in the USA, Canada and Latin America on the TV program Real TV.
Please pass this on to your friends and family. It just may save a life or two.

You Get What You Focus On Most
So choose wisely what you focus on, and focus well!
As I opened
my email this morning, I was disgusted by the subject of a prominent
email from a list I used to subscribe to (till I received that email)
staring me in the face. Not for the usual reasons you may expect to be
disgusted by an email subject. It was because it was attempting to make
a positive for their business by focusing on a negative. The title was
something like "Lies of the Online Business Community Exposed".
I was DISGUSTED!
I did not read the email. I simply went to the unsubscribe link at the bottom
of the email and clicked the unsubscribe button. "Why?", you may ask.
Because I want to stay focussed on achieving my goals, being SNIOPed
was not an option, ( Sensitive to the Negative Influence of Other People),
a term I learned from the guy who calls himself "The Miracle Man",
Morris Goodman. Even if you are familiar with the story, take a look at
this brief video and see, or remind yourself what the human mind is
capable of.
http://www.themiracleman.org/w_movie.htm (opens in new window)
Damaging effects can result from focusing on negatives. Anyone who has seen the movie or read the book, " The Secret"
will understand that concept. If you have not yet seen it or read it,
then I highly recommend that you do so as soon as possible. "You
attract what you focus on most" is a major theme of the book. If our thoughts are about avoiding
getting ripped off by online businesses, then getting ripped off is
exactly what we are probably attracting. We get ripped off because we are
thinking about getting ripped off, even if we are trying to avoid it.
Isn't that just the most amazing concept?
Please allow me to make a small analogy here. You tell your 3-your-old
child "Don't jump on the bed." What's the next thing you see them
doing? Jumping on the bed. Right? They didn't hear "Don't." They heard
"jump on the bed." some of you are having an AHA! experience right now,
arent' you? If you focus on what you don't want, you'll probably get
it, so be careful what you focus on.
Some of you may be thinking, but I need to be aware of the dangers, so
that I can avoid them. To an extent, you are right, but first consider
the following.
If there is a chemical factory in your area, that's dumping toxins into
the lake, you need to be aware of it, right? With awareness, you are
empowered to take the necessary steps to achieve a clean lake. However,
you don't need to go and swim in the water, so that you can catch
something nasty, just to prove to yourself that it is toxic, do you?
Same principle applies. Be aware that there are risks involved in doing
business on the Internet, but don't go wading through the toxic muck
floating on the lake, picking it up and looking it over, even tasting
it to see. YUK!!!
Rather, focus on finding and/or building a business, which you feel
comfortable with and one which you can use to achieve your dreams
and goals. Do that and you will attract what you want, rather than
attracting what you don't want by focusing your attention on it..
The major points, which I look for before joining any online business are:
- Do they they have a viable product or service,
which they are selling? This does not have to be a tangible. In my
experience, intangibles, or virtual products work much better and are
much easier to sell over the Internet. eg. The WCC is not a tangible.
You can't go down the road and walk into the WCC building, but it is a
viable, useable, saleable and resellable product of value. Other
virtual products may include e-books, memberships with online or VoIP
communication tools, online advertising services etc. It doesn't have
to be something you can pick up and hold in your hand or go down the
road and see one of them standing there or going past. Only businesses with viable products have
the strength to grow beyond seedling stage. Choose a business with a product that you like, or feel comfortable with.
- Is there contact information listed on the web page and is management contactable
at the contact phone numbers? If they don't list an office address
and/or a contact telephone number, why not? Are they trying to
avoid being contacted by their customers and clients? You can call us
on any of 4 numbers in major countries throughout the world, USA, UK,
Australia and Japan. You can skype or voipcheap us and you can login to the WCC and find us in there. All
contact information is listed at the foot of this document
- Do they have a viable, verifiable, genuine payouts and remuneration system and are they paying people?
This is very difficult to assess with a start-up company, of course.
That makes No. 2 even more important, if you are looking at a new,
start-up company.
- Do YOU think you can do it?
This is probably the most important thing to consider, even before
verifying
the genuineness of the company/companies you are looking at. After all,
what's the point in doing due dilligence on something you don't think
you can do. It doesn't
matter what anybody else thinks or says. Neither does it
matter what fear of loss tactics they use to convince you to part with
your money, right here and right now. If you don't feel comfortable
with it, don't do it until you do feel comfortable with it, or go and
find something else that you feel comfortable with.
Most people
dabbling in online business don't have a clue what they're doing on
line. This is evidenced by the number of people making little or no
money online. They dabble in this, they dabble in that, they vascillate
from one
opportunity to the next. They try a $5 monthly program because they are
afraid of losing any more money than that. They jump from shiny object
to shiny object, whithout ever applyng themselves to anything, and then
they quit, saying "I tried my best and I just couldn't get it to work."
The real issue is that they just weren't focused! You cannot focus and
vascillate at the same time. The two words are incongruous in meaning. If you are
vascillating, stop it immediately! If you are jumping from shiny object
to shiny object, STOP JUMPING!
While you are in the air, you have no
traction, so you can't go anywhere! When you are on the ground, it is
for such a brief time that you have little choice which direction
to go and how fast you are going to get there. STOP JUMPING!
If I joined every program that is introduced to me every day by some
enthusiast promoting it as the best thing to ever hit the internet, I
would now be in somewhere between 500 and 2,000 programs. Impossible to
manage
As members of the World Conference Center, I would encourage you all to
focus on the task at hand, which is probably the main reason we
are all here at the World Conference Center. We need to get on with the
business of making more money, and having a lot of fun doing it. If
it's not fun, then why do it? That is why we started the WCC. We
weren't having fun in the conferencing center we were using because
they locked us in our rooms, so we started our own. Believe me, I am
having fun developing and growing the World Conference Center. It's
both challenging and rewarding. I LOVE IT!
If you are not making any money, there are a couple of questions you probably need to ask yourself.
- Is the system viable?
- If so,
- what more do I need to learn in order to become successful?
- what more do I need to do in order to become successful?
- If not, then you need to look for a viable alternative business.
Remember, what the mind of man can
conceive and believe, it can
achieve. Believe you can achieve your financial goals through using the
WCC and the systems which we offer, work with that belief (Belief +
Action = Faith). Believe in yourself, act as if you believe in yourself
by doing what is necessary to achieve success, and it will happen.

Is it a lottery? Is it an e-business? It's both...
and it's pretty amazing! Read on..........
Gaming, You and $200Billion
Getting ready to launch within a week or two!
Your personal invitation to become involved before the rest of the world even knows about it.
A World Exclusive from The World Conference Center. Web
or phone conferences are being held nowhere else on the face of the
planet at this stage. The WCC is currently the ONLY place where you can find out more
about this amazing business opportunity.
Firstly, I got it wrong in the last newsletter. Gaming is not a $2Billion industry, It`s a $200Billion industry. Sorry!
We have sparked some good interest in this amazing business
opportunity. We doubled the number of attendees at the previous
conference call and we had a couple of newbies at today's conference
call as well. All we have to do to double it again is for
everybody to bring a friend to the next conference call. This is
exciting!
It's rare these days to get an invitation to become involved in the
launch of a company so revolutionary, that it has within its grasp, the
power to change the way the world does things. This company has not
even launched yet, and.... as a matter of fact, WCC members are among the
first in the world to even hear this news, so don't take this lightly,
this represents an amazing opportunity for you to cash in early and
make your fortune, without risking your shirt.
We are offering all WCC members the chance to get involved with
this company, which is part of a 200 billion dollar industry, BEFORE
they
open the doors to the general public. Therefore, we are inviting you to
yet another exclusive pre-launch webinar, to be held in the World
Conference
Center. We have elected to run these introductory webinars EVERY Thursday night at 9:00pm USA eastern time zone. Invite your friends, they won't want to miss it either!
If you received an invitation to this page via direct email, it's
because you are already a WCC member. You can login using the desktop
icon you probably have on your PC. If you came to this page as a
result of search engines, click exchanges, safelist email, ezine, or
any means, other than direct mail from the World Conference
Center, then you probably aren't already registered. Therefore,
you will need to register as a user of the World Conference
Center. Please register here.
Please login early and test your connection and equipment. You won't
want to miss this and we won't have the time to help you to get logged
in at the 11th hour. If you have any difficulty getting in to the WCC,
or of you don't even know where to find it, email icbm2help@yahoo.com or log to http://support.thewcc.com and submit a support ticket. Please include your name, phone number and email address.

WCC Hints & Tips
For those among the readers who have read this far down the email, congratulations! I have a couple of requests and an offer for you.
If you come into the WCC and see that there are very few rooms open
that day, don't focus on the negative and leave. What happens when the
person behind you comes in 2 minutes later and does the same thing?
Then the next one, and the next. If we all do that .... well, you get the picture.
Focus
on the positive. "WOW! I get to be among the first rooms open today"
and open your room. If 10 people do that, then there will be 10 rooms
open. If 100 people do it, then there will be 100 rooms open and the
place will be a-buzz with excitement. People popping in and out of
rooms, checking what there is going on, people holding conference
calls, it will all be there.
If you come in to show someone
around and there is just one room open, don't be negative, say to the
person, something like, "Excellent! Not many people here today, so maybe we
won't get interrupted while I am showing you around".
Yes, we
all have lives to live, jobs (now that is a negative 4-letter word....
lol) to go to. Personaly, I have a young family and my own
conversational language school to run, both offline and online, as well
as
the WCC to build. Currently, I am also running the help desk email box
as well, but I try to be logged in to the WCC as often and for
as long as I can, to support you, as our members. Even when I am not at
home, the PC is usually
on with the WCC open.
I'm not saying this to brag. I am using it as an example of how one
very busy man manages to keep a room open in the WCC a lot of the time.
I also want to say a particular thanks to our very own timeless treasure, Liz.
Despite the fact that she is a full-time accounting student with a
part-time job, she manages to keep her WCC room open 24/7 most of the
time. Go in and visit her, see what she is selling.
If you are afraid to leave your PC on because
someone may hack you. Lock your firewall to stop any activity
while you are away, but if you want the support of the other members to
keep their room open, then please
keep your room open as well.
